Greenery:
If adding greens to your smoothie is new to you, start with fresh spinach. You can start with 1/2 cup of greens and gradually increase the amount. Make sure that the added greens are well ground, otherwise you will not get a smoothie, but a salad in a glass.
Liquid:
Plant-based milk has a nice creamy and rich texture and contains extra protein and other valuable nutrients. Fruit juice goes well with or replaces fruit, and is great for offsetting the taste of greens. Finally, if you add a lot of greens, fruits, and other foods to your smoothies, you may want to simply opt for water.
Fruits:
Green smoothies are great on their own, but depending on which greens you choose, they can be a little weird without the sweet stuff. Adding a small amount of fruit brings a pleasant sweetness, and frozen berries bring a soft sourness.
Add a small amount of “cream fruit” (banana, 1/2 avocado, mango, peach or pear). These fruits create a nice creamy, smooth texture.
