What’s the best way to make a smoothie?
The sound of a blender mixing a smoothie is a regular sound in many kitchens (hopefully). This drink has become as common a quick meal as for some people a scrambled egg or a sandwich with butter. Smoothies are healthy, simple and very tasty. If you’re just starting to experiment with a blender, these simple principles will help you create the perfect smoothie in every sense.
Do not add too much water, otherwise you will end up with thin jelly instead of a thick cocktail. In order for the taste and color of the smoothie to be rich, the consistency of the smoothie must be quite thick.
Uniform texture is the key to success. To make smoothies truly delicious, it is important to get a powerful blender. There should be no pieces of greens floating in the green smoothie, or soaked dates or dried apricots should be mixed with water to a creamy texture. The right smoothies are like yogurt or a milkshake, the wrong ones are like a salad mixed with water.
Cool, but not icy. A cool cocktail always tastes better.
Sweetness is a component of any smoothie. The most versatile of sweet ingredients is bananas. They add both sweetness and creamy texture, and go well with any berries and herbs. The avocado will add a creamy texture, but you’ll need to add honey for sweetness. You can add soaked dates or dried apricots to chocolate cocktails with cocoa for sweetness. For sweet fruits, pears and ripe mangoes are also suitable.
To prevent the smoothie from becoming cloyingly sweet, add lemon or lime juice.
Add nut milk instead of cow’s milk. You can achieve the taste and consistency of a milkshake using nut milk, which goes much better with fruits and herbs. Anyone can make nut milk themselves or buy it at the store.
Stop in time. Experiments are interesting and exciting, but overly complex combinations do not always lead to success. As a rule, the ideal smoothie contains no more than five main ingredients. Almond milk + strawberries + banana + spinach. Or: almond milk + spinach + celery + banana. All you have to do is find your favorite combination and you can cook the same recipe every day.
